A serious, growing problem
70,052
registered sex offenders were risk-managed by police in the community as of 31 March 2024 — more than double the figure in 2007 (Home Office).
On the Creedon review's own projection, a sustained 6% annual rise would push the MAPPA-managed registered sex offender population towards 80,000 within two years of the review — and beyond 100,000 by 2029.
